11/18 - Claudia's Update

Courtney is doing great. There were many things that happened today, for now, I'm just going to address the major highlights of the day.

First off, Dad went to go see Courtney's car. He tried looking for her CD case, but wasn't able to find it. He told one of the employees about it, and the man promised to call if he found it. In the afternoon, the employee drove 45 minutes to the hospital to give it to dad in person. It just goes to show how Courtney's story has touched so many people-family, friends and strangers.

Around 4:00pm today, Courtney initiated breathing on her own. She will continue to be on the respirator; however, now she can work towards breathing without the assistance of the it. This was about an hour or so after Father Kenny of LaSalle stopped by to give Courtney a blessing. Specifically, there was a short blessing for healthy lungs.

The funny part was the reaction after mom forgot to tell dad, Aunti Been and Mrs. Aberger the good news. "Oh, I forgot. She's breathing on her own." Dad later joked, "Oh yeah, don't forget to let me know when she's ordering dinner."

Mom and Dad will post later in the evening. I just wanted to say, thank you for all of your prayers...they're working. <3
