Courtney had to have the right chest tube reinserted this morning. Her lung was leaking air and she was missing about every 4th breath, that is why she was having trouble coming off the ventilator. Courtney was awake again this morning and moving around quite a bit. Her Dr.'s agree she is ready for physical and occupational therapy.
She can still come off the ventilator even with the chest tube in. Dr.'s will give it about 4 or 5 days to heal and believe that lung was punctured by her broken rib.
Please pray that Courtney's lung will heal in the next several days so that she will not have to have surgery.
While this is a minor setback, surgery would be a bigger setback with additional risks. We need your prayers to get Courtney over this hurdle so she can continue to make progress.
