11/25 - Mom's Update

Courtney had a long day yesterday with several episodes of fevers and agitation.

When she becomes agitated her heart rate increases which makes turning down the ventilator impossible.

It is not clear to doctors why her heart rate increases without any identifiable stimulation.

Her fevers may be due to the infection or could be a function of the damage to her brain.

Either way these are challenges, along with her right lung problems need to be overcome before Courtney can be removed from the ventilator. The respiratory therapists still have the ventilator controlling the rate of breathing because of this. Courtney needs to be able to regulate her breathing on her own.

Once she is off the respirator she can get out of bed which will help with the waking up process.

In the meantime Courtney's room is filling up with cards from so many people.

We appreciate everyone's support more than you could ever know.

As the days and weeks pass we hope and pray that you will stay with us on this journey since it is going to be a very long road for our Courtney.
