Today was a good day for Courtney. She had the right chest tube and the brain tube removed.
Nurses lowered the amount of pain killer/sedative they give Courtney by 20mg. That will serve to make her more awake. They did not change the settings on the ventilator.
She responded to our voices today, squeezing our hands.
She moved her hands and legs around quite a bit. It seems to us and the nurses that she is so close to coming out of her fog.
We have been overwhelmed by the kindness and support of family, friends and complete strangers. The prayers that have been offered, phone calls, emails, texts, facebook messages, comments on this blog and numerous other acts of kindness are amazing.
Courtney has brought so many people to prayer and moved people to acts of kindness extended not just to our family but to those who have supported us daily since last Saturday.
One week ago today God gave us the first miracle - that Courtney survived this devastating crash. The second miracle is that her lungs survived.
We now ask you to pray for the next miracle - that Courtney wake from this trauma so that she can begin her road to a full and complete recovery.
Thank you.
